I sold my first book at the age of 10 to an obliging neighbor for 25 cents. That’s when I discovered the power of sharing your stories.
For 20+ years, I’ve helped organizations and individuals tell their stories – at a global PR agency and as a freelance writer and consultant.
I’m especially interested in exploring subjects related to global sustainability. I’ve researched and written about fair trade, visiting artisans in El Salvador and producing a short web film about meeting coffee growers in Nicaragua. I reported on delivering healthcare to remote villages in Malawi for ONE.org, and wrote a white paper on rainwater harvesting for a client who was battling his city council.
I craft messages for audiences as diverse as consumers, employees, general news media and technical trade reporters – for clients in industries spanning high tech, consumer products, biotech, utilities, eCommerce, healthcare, financial services, travel and more. I can assimilate information in a variety of subjects, and write materials that are appropriate to any audience – using sophisticated language for industry groups or translating to lay terms for consumer audiences.
Before devoting myself solely to writing, I conducted media relations campaigns as a senior account executive for Fleishman-Hillard International Communications in Los Angeles. I earned a bachelor’s degree in communications, with an emphasis in public relations, from California State University, Fullerton.
I’m also certified to teach English as a foreign language (TEFL). I taught English grammar and conversation to business executives and students in Guadalajara, Mexico and Quito, Ecuador. I occasionally read/perform my personal creative writing in the Los Angeles area. I am based in Pasadena, Calif.
